Chestertons Golf Day raises 3k for homelessness charity

allan

London and international residential property specialist Chestertons has raised over £3,000 at its annual Charity Golf Day in support of its nominated homelessness charity, St Mungo’s.

This year, over 40 players, which included Chestertons’ staff, clients and suppliers, attended Malden Golf Club in New Malden to take part and help beat last year’s total of £2,500.  Competitions were held for the highest team score, highest individual score, longest drive and nearest the pin.

With the company aiming to raise £25,000 through various fundraising initiatives, Chestertons’ annual Charity Golf Day is just one in a series of events and activities organised to support St Mungo’s. Other fundraisers have included bake sales, quiz evenings, bowling competitions and wine tastings. In addition to this, Chestertons encourages its staff to volunteer to accompany the charity's rough sleeper outreach team, enabling them to actually meet the individuals who rely on such charities and see what good work their donations can facilitate.

St Mungo's is one of the country's leading homelessness charities, providing a bed and support to approximately 2,700 people every night who are either homeless or at risk. It runs more than 300 projects, including emergency hostel and supportive housing projects, advice services, specialist physical health, mental health and skills and work services.

Giles Milner, Marketing Director for Chestertons and also the chairman of Chestertons Charity Champions, comments: “The golf day was a great success enjoyed by all, but it also forms part of our wider ‘Charity Champions’ initiative. As well as fundraising events, we want to be hands-on in our approach, encouraging staff to think about ways they can individually and collectively make a difference in the wider community through fundraising and volunteering. We would like to say a big thank you to our generous sponsors, whose involvement with events such as these enables us to maximise the funds raised for St Mungo’s.”

Hayley Conboy, Assistant Head of Corporate Partnerships at St Mungo's, said:“St Mungo's is committed to ending homelessness and helping people rebuild their lives. Our corporate partners enable us achieve our ambitions, and we are delighted with Chestertons’ continued support. We would like to thank Chestertons and their sponsors for hosting such a successful golf day in aid of St Mungo’s.”

Chestertons would like to thank its golf day sponsors: Rightmove, Prodec, Positive Images, Reapit, Salesforce, Ravensworth and Springtide.

A special thank you also goes to Andy Paul of Prodec, who was in charge of the drinks and snacks buggy, providing much needed refreshment on a hot day and raising just over £135 for St Mungo’s.
