The redevelopment of Greenwich Peninsula is well underway and will deliver around 15,000 new homes

The more fashionable parts of Greenwich have traditionally been in the town centre and around Greenwich Park. However, Greenwich Peninsula is undergoing a major transformation into a sought-after residential location which began in 1997 with the decision to build the Millennium Dome. This triggered considerable investment in the local transport infrastructure and amenities alongside new housing development. Greenwich is now easily accessible via the Docklands Light railway, the Jubilee Line and by river bus which runs from Greenwich and North Greenwich Piers. In 2012, Greenwich’s transport network was supplemented by London’s only cable car, which operates from North Greenwich to East India Dock. Greenwich boasts a variety of famous landmarks, including the Royal Observatory (home to London’s only planetarium) in Greenwich Park, the Greenwich Maritime World Heritage Site which houses the National Maritime Museum and the Old Royal Naval College, the Cutty Sark, the O2 Arena and Greenwich Market.

Georgian and Victorian architecture dominates the centre and west of the area, giving a refined and established feel. The popular Ashburnham conservation area has later Victorian houses and east of the park there is a mix of cottages and Victorian and Edwardian terraces. The redevelopment of Greenwich Peninsula is well underway and will deliver around 15,000 new homes when complete with a variety of luxury riverside properties, from apartments to townhouses.
