This year, Chestertons is once again proud to support the Calling London Coat Drive, which is celebrating its 10-year anniversary, and with Covid-19 causing hardship for society’s most vulnerable people, your coat donations are needed now more than ever.
With the global pandemic creating a strain on many people’s lives across the world, charitable organisations such as foodbanks, Crisis, Hestia, St Mungo’s and others supporting victims of homelessness and domestic violence, have seen a huge increase in demand for their services since March. Now, more vulnerable people in the capital lack the ability to afford some of the most basic things, such as food for their families and a warm coat for the winter.
Usually, Chestertons opens its London offices as donation points for unwanted winter coats throughout November, but, as we need to collect more coats than previous years we have decided to launch the collection early, to allow people as much time as possible to donate. Please see our guidelines on how to donate safely below.
Since partnering with the Calling London charity, Chestertons has collected more and more coats every year, starting with 500 in our first year and growing to an incredible 5,000 in 2019 – the highest number of donations ever received by the charity since being established.
Established in 2010 by local Kensington resident Frances Manthos, the Calling London charity collects warm coats and jackets to give to over 30 charities; that then distribute the coats to London’s most vulnerable, such as the homeless, victims of domestic abuse, those living in poverty, the elderly, refugees and children.
Find your nearest drop off point from our branches listed below to donate your unwanted winter coats, and help keep vulnerable Londoners warm, throughout the cold winter months!
This year, the receiving charities have requested high volumes of children's and men's coats.
