Living in Battersea

A Chestertons area guide to Battersea

Battersea Power Station and Battersea Bridge

Welcome to Battersea

Green parks, an abundance of quality restaurants and bars, good schools and attractive Victorian properties are just some of the reasons why Battersea is such a highly desirable area. Its proximity to the river and nearby Chelsea also adds to the attraction.

Property in Battersea ranges from mansion blocks and Victorian family homes near the park, to newer developments such as the Battersea Reach development which is proving popular with young professionals and corporate tenants. Popular family areas are the ‘Toast Rack’ on Wandsworth Commons and streets ‘Between the Commons’, particularly just off the Northcote Road.

  • Parks & recreation

The biggest, well-known park in the area is of course Battersea Park, which provide locals with beautiful green space to explore and a range of sporting facilities. The park features a large duck pond, a pagoda and various sculptures for visitors to admire.

There’s a great range of specialty stores where you can buy anything from honey to fine wines and cheese, alongside traditional florists, fishmongers and antiques. In fact, the area is so well known for its independent stores that the council has implemented a measure to protect the unique shops and distinctive character of Northcote Road.
