Welcome to Camden

Camden is a dynamic area of North London, famous for its alternative fashion scene and busy market. Its proximity to Primrose Hill and Regent’s Park makes the area attractive to those seeking green space.

  • Great for socialising
  • Mixture of old and new
  • Great transport
  • Good music venues
  • Lots of entertainment
  • Close to city
  • Entertainment & nightlife

Camden is best known for its large market which claims to be the 4th most popular tourist attraction in London but there’s much more to Camden than market stalls and alternative fashion. Camden is a great place to listen to live music, meet friends and generally enjoy life.

Best place for books & architecture
The Swiss Cottage Library is a grade II listed modernist building and many people visit to appreciate its simple style. Built in 1964, the building is considered an architectural gem for both its external design and internal space.

Best place for up and coming bands
The Dublin Castle is on the circuit for many up and coming bands and musicians and past performers include Amy Winehouse and Blur. The pub has also received praise for its beer selection in addition to the range of music acts.
  • Parks & recreation

Nearby Primrose Hill and Regent’s Park offer welcome breathing space for residents. Primrose Hill offers stunning views across the rest of London whereas Regent’s Park has well maintained rose gardens, a zoo, and many sporting facilities.

The Regent’s Park Canal runs through Camden providing a space for canoeing and pleasure cruises.
  • Restaurants & shopping

Camden market is world famous. The nearby streets also offer a multitude of shops, including vinyl record stores and vintage clothing stores. Camden also has a wide range of pubs and restaurants, including street food cuisine. More eateries are expected to move into the area in the coming years.

    Best place for coffee
Disappointed by the coffee served in chain stores, Camden resident Sunni decided to open his own cafe, the Camden Coffee House. Opened in 2009, the cafe has a number of followers who happily sing its praises and it has recently expanded into Balham, Croydon and Ladbroke Grove.

    Best place for burger
Haché is a specialist burger restaurant with a choice of meat, from beef to duck. The Vegetarian options look just as tasty and filling as the meat options.
  • Schools

The two best performing Primary Schools in Camden (percentage of pupils attaining level 4 in Key Stage 2 English, Maths and Science) are St Mary and St Pancras C of E and Primrose Hill School.
The two highest performing Secondary schools in Camden are North Bridge House and The Camden School for Girls. The Camden School for Girls is an exceptional state school for girls with a mixed 6th form college attached.

  • Transport & travel

Camden’s central location is well served by a number of underground stations, as well two large mainline stations with services to the North and the Midlands. St Pancras also provides services to mainland Europe.
Kings Cross St Pancras – Circle, Hammersmith and City, Metropolitan, Northern, Piccadilly and Victoria lines. National and international services.
