FOUNDER OF CHESTERTONS’ WINTER COAT CAMPAIGN CHARITY PARTNER RECEIVES MAYOR’S AWARD
The founder of the annual Winter Coat Campaign, championed by Chestertons has received a prestigious award in recognition of her charitable work.
Frances Manthos, who set up the ‘Calling London’ charity in 2011 to help collect and distribute warm winter coats to people in need across greater London, was awarded the ‘2017 Mayor’s Award for Services to the Community’ by the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea at a ceremony earlier this month.
The charity ‘Calling London’ partnered with Chestertons – one of London’s largest estate agencies - in 2014 and uses the estate agents 32 branches as its primary public coat donation points. Since Chestertons’ involvement, the number of coats collected has soared by nearly 350%, with over 3,500 coats collected in 2016, over 1,000 of which were donated directly to Chestertons.
Frances commented, “I feel very honoured to have been recognised by this award, but in turn I must recognise all of the volunteers that work with me to make this happen. A special thanks must go to Chestertons who works tirelessly to find new ways to drive donations and raise awareness of the cause. The largest number of our donations come via their branches, and we are already planning our 2017 campaign and I am confident that it will be our best yet!”
