Two new cricket partnerships that have seen London estate agent Chestertons getting involved with both Richmond CC and Middlesex County Cricket Club are already paying off in terms of both community engagement and some rather unexpected exposure in the national media.
The deals were signed earlier this year and mean Chestertons is now sponsor of Richmond CC, which was founded in 1862 and is one of South West London’s best supported clubs, and also official property partner of Middlesex CCC, which plays home matches at Lord’s and earlier this month a sold-out T20 Blast Match v Glamorgan at Old Deer Park, home of Richmond CC and also London Welsh Rugby Club, another of Chestertons’ community partners, is also based.
In glorious sunshine almost 4,000 people attended the T20 game, and the match was the first occasion on which Middlesex achieved the maximum capacity for any game away from Lord’s. Social media was alight with Tweets on the evening, with one even making it on to the BBC Sport website’s live feed of the evening’s matches, conveniently showing the prominently branded Chestertons hospitality area.
Richmond CC also hosted a cricket game between the English RFU and Rugby Writers Association, in which Eddie Jones and his coaching staff took on journalist in a limited-overs contest. The fixture attracted national media coverage, including this write-up on the Telegraph website. The accompanying pictures clearly show the Chestertons branding at Old Deer Park, which is also in evidence in the RFU’s own video of the game. Eddie Jones hit a quickfire 30-odd runs in a win for the RFU side, which also featured Rob Andrew and coaches Neal Hatley and Paul Gustard. The RFU video has went viral on social media, giving the Chestertons branding even more exposure.
Giles Milner, Marketing Director of Chestertons, says: “We entered into these deals with a view to boosting support for and participation in county cricket across the local communities in which we operate, as well as across London more generally. We gave away free and discounted tickets to Londoners and our clients, so we were delighted that the Middlesex T20 game at Old Deer Park turned out to be such a hit, with a full-house in attendance on the night. It’s been a huge bonus to also see our branding of the ground and facilities featuring on global news sites and social media in recent weeks too! “Results-wise both Richmond and Middlesex have started the season in good form, with Middlesex fighting hard for the County Championship title, so we’re hoping that run continues. London Welsh are also back in training for the start of the new rugby season and will soon be back at Old Deer Park to pick up where the cricket leaves off, so top-class sporting action is on the bill all-year-round.”To register your interest in a special Chestertons offer of membership of Middlesex County Cricket Club until the end of the current season at the discounted rate of just £75 click here
