At Chestertons we take our responsibility towards the environment seriously and are constantly seeking ways to ‘Go Green’ to protect the planet for generations to come.
Chestertons is actively working to removing all single-use plastics from the business and to date, we are in the process of replacing plastic cups used in the offices with reusable glasses, jugs and mugs and have introduced biodegradable or recycled options for much of our marketing collateral. We have stopped using any unrecyclable laminated paper across the business to ensure that not only is all of our printed material fully recyclable, but also the paper it is printed on is FSC-certified, meaning that it is made from responsibly managed, socially beneficial, environmentally conscious, and economically viable wood supplies.
Travelling to multiple locations across the capital is a daily requirement for our staff, and for some of these journeys a car is the most viable option. To minimise the environmental impact of this, in 2019 we became the first major estate agency group to replace our entire fleet of company cars with all-electric BMW i3s, which produce zero emissions and help improve London’s air quality. This change will reduce tailpipe emissions of over 20 tonnes of CO2 per annum.
Wherever possible, we operate paperless systems and have invested in software that enables us to send and complete contracts and paperwork digitally, rather than by post. We are committed to increasing the number of documents sent in this way, removing the need for printing and photocopying, therefore saving paper, electricity and ink usage. Each of our offices is provided with recycling facilities, for the secure disposal and recycling of documentation and paper materials. In addition we are exploring additional recycling opportunities for plastic and metal across the network.
Chestertons regularly reviews its impact on the environment with the aim of identifying and making further improvements where possible and is in the process of appointing a ‘Green Champion’ to oversee all environmental improvements. The Green Champion will:
