Chestertons has been recognised by Apprenticeship Connect, as Employer of the Year (201+ employees) for 2019.
Each year, Apprenticeship Connect celebrate the commitment of the employers who they work with – recognising the quality of training, support infrastructure dedicated to mentoring, the opportunities given to stretch and challenge employees and the progression offered during and after the apprenticeship programme.
We first partnered with Apprenticeship Connect in 2014, and have since supported 25 apprentices in the past six years, with 14 of whom now work at Chestertons as permanent employees.
Ben Toocaram , Head of Recruitment – "When I started in the industry, 14 years ago, you had to have a degree. However, it became abundantly clear to me that we were missing out on so much talent. Chestertons continue to champion apprenticeships throughout our business, recognising the unique value they add to our workforce and this is reflected in the number of talented apprentices who choose to take up full-time positions with Chestertons."
Kate Holyoake, Digital Marketing Executive – “I joined Chestertons as an apprentice in February 2018 and upon completing my course in 2019, I was offered a full-time position. Now in 2020 I have achieved two promotions at the company and continue to progress my skills and knowledge within the industry. Chestertons dedicated time to guide and support my learning throughout my apprenticeship and since becoming a full-time employee, they’ve provided me with the mentoring and skills needed to progress further. I was given an excellent platform, allowing me to take on new responsibilities and strengthen my confidence and ability to strive in a working environment. The fact that so many apprentices who started from scratch within the company are still here today, shows the potential for growth and responsibility here – as many of them have grown alongside me at Chestertons.”
William Hudson, Accounts Assistant Apprentice commented – “Chestertons really do value their apprentices. They make sure to give me time each week to go through my workload and priorities, but alongside this value the importance of my studies and the time needed to complete this to the best of my abilities. This has allowed me to become more efficient in completing my apprenticeship coursework, but it also provides me with real-life work experience; which is highly important for me in building a career”
