Parks & Recreation

Hyde Park is one of London’s eight Royal Parks and covers a huge 350 acres. The park has a wide range of recreational facilities to take advantage of from tennis to swimming in the Serpentine. There is also an art gallery in the park that frequently features displays and installations from high profile artists.

Restaurants & Shopping

As expected for an area such as Hyde Park, it is home to wide range of exquisite designer boutiques, fabulous bakeries, chic cafes and excellent restaurants. Connaught Village in particular, where our office is based, is well known for this.

Best place for Greek delicacies:

The Athenian Grocery on Moscow Road in Bayswater is the oldest Greek deli in the UK. They opened their shop in 1952 and have since expanded to include an online shop too.

Best place for a quiet drink:

Le Pain Quotidien and The Kendal Pub on the corner of Kendal and Connaught Street. Also, The Markus Coffee Company on Connaught Street; where you can get a cup of coffee or buy some top quality beans.

Entertainment & Nightlife

The areas closest to the park have plenty of traditional pubs dotted around. If you venture closer to Oxford Street and Bayswater you’ll find bars and clubs. The theatres and cinemas of the West End are not far away, thanks to the good transport links in the area. Hyde Park manages to draw in visitors whatever the weather.

Gyngleboy (an old term meaning a leather drinking pouch) is owned by Davy’s wine merchants who own several wine bars in London. The pub is pleasantly old fashioned and traditionally decorated with dark wooden panels.

Best place for a late night out

Carbon Bar, located just off Oxford Street is open until 3am and frequently features DJs from the Ministry of Sound. There are plenty of unusual cocktails on their drinks menu that are sure to keep you dancing until closing time.

Schools & Education

The majority of schools in the area are fee-paying private schools. For primary age children there are Paint Pots Montessori, Ravenstone Pre-Preparatory, Wetherby Pre-Preparatory and Connaught House School. For younger children there’s the Ravenstone nursery school.

Transport is excellent with a variety of nearby underground stations to close from.

  • Hyde Park Corner – Piccadilly line
  • Marble Arch – Central line
  • Lancaster Gate - Central line
  • Queensway - Central line
  • Bayswater – Circle and District lines
  • Paddington – Circle, District, Bakerloo, Hammersmith & City lines.
  • Paddington also has national rail services to the West Country and South Wales.
