Sotogrande offers a relaxed family and country club lifestyle with beach clubs, tennis, golf, water sports and spas. Flip flop chic best describes Sotogrande, which is characterised by its exclusivity and elegance and is one of the largest luxury resorts in Europe with 2000 hectares of land. It is located in the municipal of San Roque, Cadiz close to Gibraltar in southern Spain. Sotogrande is famous for its golf courses including Valderrama, host of the 1997 Ryder cup, and hosting one of the top Polo tournaments every August. Properties in Sotogrande vary from marina apartments overlooking moored yachts, to million-euro villas, up to 20,000 feet in size benefiting from amazing views over the Mediterranean towards the African coast and Atlas Mountains.
Sotogrande has an excellent range of restaurants, which can be found at the port, along the marina or within the resorts' magnificent golf clubs, beach clubs, or beach “chiringuitos” (pop up beach restaurants). Sotogrande has a strong Polo heritage that stretches back to the mid-60s when the resort was founded. The Santa Maria Polo Club's International tournament celebrated its 47th year in 2018. It never fails to attract the top patrons and best polo players. Polo schools are available for all to learn how to play. It also has three of Spain’s top seven golf courses (Valderrama, Real Club Sotogrande and La Reserva) located within the resort.
Located twenty minutes from Gibraltar (Britain away from Britain), thirty minutes from Marbella (shopping and nightlife), and with three international airports (Gibraltar, Malaga and Jerez) an hour’s drive away, Sotogrande is perfectly located to have a home away from home. With the resort being three hours away from London and other main European cities, it is easy and to affordable to reach. Additionally, it is only two hours away from Seville and a short ferry crossing to Tangiers in North Africa. Many residents enjoy the ski slopes in Granada also two hours away.
