Having emerged over recent years as an advocate of arts and culture, Chestertons, London’s leading estate agent, has announced a new relationship as part of its arts programme.
Its latest backing goes to Central Saint Martins, UAL, the world-renowned arts and design college, to help them raise vital funds for their 2020 Postgraduate Art Programme Degree Show.
For the first time, Chestertons sponsored Central Saint Martins’ annual Postgraduate Art Auction, which took place last month at the Lethaby Gallery in King’s Cross. The auction raised a total of £30,745 and will fund events in the Postgraduate Art Programme, supporting the cost of hiring external venues for the interim exhibition and contributing to students’ final degree show installations.
Led by auctioneer Adrian Biddell, this year’s live auction included donations from acclaimed artists, such as Antony Gormley, Paula Rego and Shezad Dawood. The silent auction presented over 90 works from current students and recent graduates.
Commenting on Chestertons involvement, Alex Schady, Art Programme Director, says: “Chestertons’ sponsorship of the Art Auction is very important for our Postgraduate Fine Art students. The support helps to fund our students’ interim show, degree show and other initiatives that enhance their learning experience and provide public platforms to exhibit their work to the artworld.”
Giles Milner, Marketing Director, adds: “Chestertons is always looking at new ways to support groups, clubs, initiatives, charities and institutions that have a positive impact on London and the people that live here. We are very happy to be able to support Central Saint Martins and look forward to an exciting and fruitful partnership with the school and its students. Chestertons’ clients and friends can also look forward to an exciting new Chestertons Art Programme 2020, which will be announced early next year and will feature some unique events in conjunction with Central Saint Martins.”
